Sheldrill Pty Ltd has been active in the coal mining industry in the Illawarra region of NSW since 1998, providing expertise in a broad range of coal mining processes. The company has provided planning, supervision assistance and support to major mining companies including BHP Billiton, Gujarat NRE, Delta SBD as well as Government bodies such as Dept of Primary Industry, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Sydney Catchment Authority.

Sheldrill currently specialises in areas relating to the final phase of a mine’s life cycle, such as the coordination of mine closures and surface rehabilitation of inactive mine shafts following closure.

Brian Sheldon, founder and Managing Director of Sheldrill, with nearly 50 years experience in the underground coal mining industry, has earned a wide reputation for his broad knowledge of coal mining and geology, his quiet, unassuming manner and the reliable and meticulous approach he takes with all his ventures.

His career experience covers major projects such as shaft sinking, washery reject control,  exploratory drilling and geological interpretation (both underground and surface), general mine planning, coordination of mine closures, outburst drilling, gas testing and monitoring, coal sampling, shaft back filling and mine site rehabilitation. Brian's extensive knowledge and research into the local history of coal mining is also evident in the Illawarra Coal history project at
